PV 15 – PLACE VALUE OF THREE-DIGIT NUMBERS
Children investigate and explain place value concepts of teen and two-digit numbers – Place Value 11
Children investigate standard and non-standard place value of three-digit numbers, initially with small 10 frames and then without.
Children also investigate partitioning three-digit numbers, explaining when the partitions are place values and when they are not.
Children also investigate ordering three-digit numbers on a number line.
Children also investigate the nearest 10s numbers and nearest 100s number to three-digit numbers.
This will allow children to begin to develop the understanding that they will apply to adding and subtracting three- and four-digit numbers – integrated with Addition and Subtraction 21.
