PV 19 PA 21 – PLACE VALUE, PARTITION, ORDER, COUNT FROM FIVE-DIGIT NUMBERS

Children investigate and explain place value concepts of teen and two-digit numbers –  Place Value 11, and three-digit numbers – Place Value 15, and four-digit numbers – Place Value 17
Children investigate standard and non-standard place value of five-digit numbers.
Children also investigate partitioning five-digit numbers, explaining when the partitions are place values and when they are not.
Children also investigate ordering five-digit numbers on a number line.
Children also count by 10s, 100s, and 1000s, explaining which digits change and why.
This will allow children to begin to develop the understanding that they will apply to adding and subtracting three-, four-, and five-digit numbers, including as money – integrated with Addition and Subtraction 21Addition and Subtraction 23 Money and Financial Mathematics 9, and Addition and Subtraction 24 Money and Financial Mathematics 10
