Children investigate findingdifference in three ways – by adding onto the lower number, by taking away from the higher number, and by subtracting the lower number from the higher number.
They also investigate solving missing number sentences by finding difference in 3 ways.
This is a concept that integrates Addition and Subtraction, and Patterns and Algebra, and is investigated as a whole class.
