MG 20 – TWO-DIMENSIONAL SHAPES’ CURVED LINES, SIDES AND VERTICES
Children use their developing understanding of the three dimensions (up and down, left to right, front to back) to investigate regular and irregular two-dimensional shapes, identifying the shape’s 2 dimensions.
They identify curved lines, naming them curved lines, and straight lines, naming them sides.
They identify that sides meet at points called vertices.
Children describe two-dimensional shapes – triangles, quadrilaterals, pentagons, hexagons, octagons.
Children name a two-dimensional shape from a description of its line, side and vertex features.
