FD 14 – EQUIVALENT FRACTIONS ON A NUMBER LINE

Children place fractions on a number line, by ‘walking’ from zero to 1, stopping and marking half way, a quarter of the way, 2 quarters of the way, a third of the way etc.
They identify fractions that are in the same position on the number line, explaining that they are equivalent fractions. They test the fractions for equivalence using the relationship between the numerator and denominator – integrated Fractions and Decimals 13.
