FD 10 – FRACTIONS ON A NUMBER LINE

Children investigate placing fractions on a number line, by ‘walking’ from zero to 1, stopping and marking halfway, a quarter of the way, 2 quarters of the way, a third of the way etc. They explain that 2 halves, 4 quarters, etc, equals 1 – identify that fractions with the same numerator and denominator are equal to 1.
