ECG 12 – GROUPING
Children investigate making groups with group markers, explaining that they had a group and they now have 2 groups etc.
When they are ready, they make groups without group markers.
They describe groups as equal or unequal, and as more and fewer.
NB: Children do not come to school with a flexible understanding of groups. If children begin to add (join groups together) before they have a flexible understanding of groups, they will say that they ended up with a group but did not start with groups.
