Year 3 Professional Learning

In Year 3 children apply their understanding of Addition and Subtraction using standard and non-standard Place Value to add and subtract three- and four-digit numbers and extend their investigation of standard and non-standard Place Value to four-digit numbers. They begin to investigate Multiplication and Division, Place Value and Fractions multiplicatively. They begin to investigate multiplicative place value of whole numbers. They begin to investigate multiplication and division by 10, 2, 4, 3 and 5 using the distributive property and the relationship between division and fractions. They begin to investigate multiplicative relationships between fractions and the meaning of the denominator and the numerator. They begin to relate multiplicative place value to metric measurement.
