SEQUENCES OF LEARNING
AUSTRALIAN CURRICULUM v9 + NSW 2022-2023 SYLLABUS +
GENERAL CAPABILITIES v9 / NUMERACY PROGRESSION v3

All research- and curriculum-based Concept Sequences have both an Empirical and a Logical Basis, and explicitly uncover links between concepts to ensure that related concepts are taught and investigate simultaneously.
The Empirical Basis means that later Levels are both harder than and also include earlier Levels.
The Logical Basis means that specific earlier Levels are prerequisites for specific later Levels.

The Concepts have been grouped into Zones (big ideas) based on the way they have been grouped in the AUSTRALIAN CURRICULUM v9 + NSW 2022-2023 SYLLABUS + GENERAL CAPABILITIES v9 / NUMERACY PROGRESSION v3 and based on current learning research.

Each of the Sequences of Learning are from the base of the concepts (generally Foundation / Prep / Reception / Kindergarten or Year 1) and progress through to the top of the concept (Year 6).

EARLY COUNTING & GROUPING CONCEPT SEQUENCE * 2012 NSW

PLACE VALUE CONCEPT SEQUENCE * 2012 NSW

ADDITION & SUBTRACTION CONCEPT SEQUENCE * 2012 NSW

MONEY CONCEPT SEQUENCE * 2012 NSW

MULTIPLICATION & DIVISION CONCEPT SEQUENCE * 2012 NSW

MEASUREMENT & GEOMETRY CONCEPT SEQUENCE * 2012 NSW

FRACTIONS CONCEPT SEQUENCE * 2012 NSW

PATTERNS CONCEPT SEQUENCE * 2012 NSW

STATISTICS & PROBABILITY CONCEPT SEQUENCE * 2012 NSW

NB: Because all of the Sequences of Learning, like the Australian Curriculum and the NSW Syllabus. have both an Empirical and Logical basis, differentiation to start teaching at lower grade levels to ensure students are ready for grade level is easy.
